Vocational Education and Training (VET) in our Catholic Schools provides valuable opportunities for senior students to leave school ready for the workforce.
The school offers every opportunity for students to succeed and work towards successful outcomes.
Burdekin Catholic High School offers the following Vocational Education qualifications on site:
- SIT200322 Certificate II in Hospitality
- SIS30321 Certificate III in Fitness (+ optional SIS20122 Certificate II in Sport and Recreation)
- CPC10120 Certificate I in Construction
All of the VET programs offered by BCHS can lead to nationally recognised qualifications – a certificate if a student completes all of the requirements of the qualification, or a statement of attainment for those parts that the student successfully completes (if you do not complete the full qualification). This certificate/statement of attainment will be recognised in all eight States/Territories in Australia. This is because in Australia we have national qualifications framework called the Australian Quality Framework (AQF).
TRADE TRAINING CENTRE
The school has a federally funded Trade Training Centre, which opened in 2012. The Trade Training Centre focuses on training in Construction, delivering CPC10120 Certificate I in Construction. This course is delivered in Partnership with Blue Dog Training - RTO: 31193.
This is a two-year practical course that requires students to become competent in skills necessary for entry into several building and construction trades.
